It’s that time of year, when the next generation of fashion designers from across the country descends on London for an industry-wide showcase of talent.
Graduate Fashion Week is one of the most important events on London’s fashion calendar. But what does it feel like to actually be there? Fashion Journalist, Jordan Wake will be taking over Candid Magazine’s Instagram on Day 3 to give Candid readers an insider’s view.
Aside from seven catwalk shows, Day 3 of Graduate Fashion Week will welcome career tips from Ralph Lauren; a de-stressing talk from Caryn Franklin MBE and the day will be capped off by a conversation between Hilary Alexander OBE and designer, Henry Holland.
Who is Jordan Wake? We catch up with him below.
Where are you from and how long have you been working in Fashion?
I’m originally from Norfolk then moved to London to work in fashion which I’ve been doing for just over three years now.
What is your current role?
Fashion Journalist and Assistant to Hilary Alexander OBE.
Why is Graduate Fashion Week so important?
Now more than ever it’s so vital to have these incredible platforms to support and launch new talent. Fashion can be a crowded and competitive place to be in when building your career so having the incredible opportunities which GFW provides is so important for the future.
What do you like best about Graduate Fashion Week?
For me it’s the industry coming together in one place to witness the next generation in fashion.
Which shows are you most looking forward to?
Nottingham Trent, Ravensbourne, Norwich and UCA Epsom university.
Any insight in to the trends that we can expect on the catwalk?
Personally, I don’t really follow trends. Especially at Graduate shows, it’s all about the raw creativity and innovative new talent being showcased from all over the world.
We’re very excited to have you taking over Candid’s Instagram. What kind of content will you be supplying?
During my takeover I will be reporting from the catwalk shows, looking through graduate portfolios, attending industry talks and giving an insight into a day at Graduate Fashion Week.
