Arizona Iced Tea Turns to Weed

25th February 2020

America's number 1 selling iced tea brand is no stranger to new tastes and flavors. You can find their delicious iced tea infused with natural healthy ingredients such as honey, Ginseng, delicious fruits, and now, eh, well, weed…

Arizona has reached a licensing deal with Dixie Brands, a Denver based cannabis company that make cannabis-based foods, drinks, and topicals to produce cannabis-infused iced tea using the Arizona brand.

Although Arizona may be the number 1 iced tea brand in America which can be found in every convenience store including Walmarts and 7/11, this hasn’t stopped their sales from falling due to a decline in their core tea business.

On the other side of the coin, the popularity of cannabis has dramatically increased as more and more research is published on its medicinal benefits and it is legal in the majority of America either medically or recreationally as well as the whole of Canada.

Speaking to the press, CEO Don Vultaggio says: “The cannabis market is an important emerging category, and we’ve maintained our independence as a private business to be positioned to lead and seize generation-defining opportunities exactly like this one.” He continues by saying “The cannabis category is an ideal space to bring the flavor and fun of Arizona into new and exciting products.”

Dixie will manufacture and sell the cannabis-infused Arizona iced tea which will be available to purchase in licensed dispensaries in America in the very near future.

Arizona is not the first beverage company to get into the cannabis space as in 2017 makers of the Corona brand, Constellation Brands, announced a 10% stake in Canopy Growth – the world's biggest cannabis grower.

In addition, in 2018 Ab InBev the makers of Budweiser partnered with Canadian cannabis company Tilray to research the prospect of cannabis-infused beers.

In a world where consumers are savvier than ever and in search of healthier products, it is safe to say that cannabis will be infused in all manner of goods in the near future, whether that it is THC-rich cannabis to make you feel high or non-intoxicating CBD to relax you.
