Swedish premium rain and outerwear company Stutterheim Raincoats collaborates with London-based menswear brand Band Of Outsiders. The collaboration is part of Band Of Outsiders’ AW18 collection, inspired by the idyllic winter-sports holiday. Being based in both Stockholm and London, our Fashion Editor Thomas Falkenstedt of course had to delve deeper.
The collaboration was first shown at Band Of Outsiders’ presentation during London Fashion Week Men’s back in January. Instead of a traditional runaway, twenty-two talented ice skaters presented the unique looks on the Somerset House ice skating rink – putting Stutterheim on ice for the very first time.
The iconic Stockholm raincoat has been re-created in three different versions for the collaboration. Classic Navy, Red and White coats were reworked with a timeless pinstripe pattern in the form of a slope print.
When asked about the collaboration, Alexander Stutterheim, Founder and Creative Director of the brand said, “Band Of Outsiders offers a great range of menswear, and we’re happy to be a part of their universe this season. They talk about being a brand for men who don’t take themselves too seriously, something we very much resonate with and think more people should embrace”.
The love affair seems to be mutual as Angelo von Mol, designer for Band Of Outsiders replied with, ”We have been observing Stutterheim for a while now, and have been continuously impressed by the quality of their coats and the way they communicate their values. Humour lies at the core of our brand, and even though Stutterheim is most known for their melancholy, there’s an underlying layer of dark humour, which we love. I think our common appreciation for that dimension is one of the reasons why this collaboration feels so natural.”
The Stutterheim x Band Of Outsiders coats are available in a limited quantity on stutterheim.com, in Stutterheim flagship stores in Stockholm and New York, as well as on bandofoutsiders.com and selected retailers globally.
