Global sportswear brand Puma has teamed up with UK street style favourite Trapstar on a collection of footwear and apparel which launched on the 23rd July at selected retailers. The line is a continuation of a December 2015 footwear collaboration which saw the power house brand Puma team up with cult classic Trapstar on a pair of sneakers in Trapstar’s signature print.
During the festivities last week, guests previewed a short film from Trapstar which was followed by a Q&A with the founders of Trapstar, Mikey and Lee, plus Yassine Saidi – Head of PUMA Sport Style. In addition to a first look at the film, attendees were also able to get up close and personal with the extended partnership. The new and expanded line includes a mix of jackets, tops and bottoms that bring together classic athletic silhouettes with edgy Trapstar prints and street-wear details elevating each piece.
Known for their innovative pieces, and cult following Trapstar did not disappoint with laser-cut elements, padded camo vests and elevated details on trainers. Football appeared to be the link joining the two brands, with football inspired jackets in breathable fabrics to sporty cuts and textiles elsewhere tying together the collection.
Trapstar is a UK brand that has garnered a cult following, and it's legions of fans and “insta-famous” models and friends were out in full force for the event. With Section Boyz as the secret headliner, and performances by Grime act Shy Glizzy , it was easy to forget it was a Tuesday night. Also in attendance were Founders Mike, Lee and Will who cited classic cinema, iconic photography, music and art as inspiration for the brand. You can shop Puma's selection of ombre kits, abstracted camo and footwear here.
You can also visit Trapstar's flagship store on Portobello Road, to learn more about the brand.
