“Today photography is part of my life… It completes the circle between my artistic and professional restlessness.” – Karl Lagerfeld
The iconic Karl Lagerfeld will be the guest of honour at this year’s Paris Photo art fair held at the Grand Palais in November. The epochal Paris Photo showcase is dedicated to the world of photography and this year is celebrating its twenty-first edition.
Paris Photo charms over sixty thousand visitors a year and is the largest art fair dedicated to this medium. A mixture of artists, collectors, professionals, renowned cultural institutions, experts and enthusiasts will all make up the audience.
Travelling from around the globe, visitors are able to discover the best in photography from vintage works and modern masters to the latest contemporary creations with Karl’s creative vision being at the heart of the exhibition.
Karl is renowned for being one of the biggest personalities in the fashion industry, but has an exceptional eye and passion for photography, fascinated by the power of images and the evocative effect they produce. Since 1987 he has worked in the field, receiving the Cultural Prize from the German Photographic Society and the ICP Trustee Award from the International Centre of Photography.
Uniting a hundred and eighty worldwide galleries and art dealers, visitors will be able to discover the best in photography through the eyes of the master at this year’s event, including a special edition book published by Steidl.
Amongst the thousands of artworks on view, Lagerfeld will chose his personal selections, creating a journey into his artistic universe.
