Norwegian pop-producing duo, Skinny Days are back with a new track alongside singer Emilie Adams. Undoubtedly putting a start to the uplifting summer music fill we will have over the coming months, the single, titled The One That Got Away, is a tropical, house-infused anthem. Mixing both electro beats, steel drums and soaring vocals, they have created a song that takes all the best parts of an a-typical sunshine-filled pop piece, and given it cool vibes to make it worthy of being played at any festival. A real triumph of a record, it is guaranteed to get listeners dancing.
Like fellow Norwegian and musician Kygo, they have the ability to created great elevating mainstream music. This tune is about holding onto someone important in life, presumably in the romantic sense rather than platonic, and it unfolds into a melancholic tale set to an uptempo melody. Emilie gives it sweet Zara Larsson styled vocals, that are nothing earth shattering but work well within the genre. The duo were insistent on working with the singer after hearing her joint venture with TRXD on the hit Our City and are quoted in saying, ‘Emilie Adams has a beautiful velvety voice and we had to get her on a Skinny Days song’.
After a chance meeting in Liverpool between Skinny Days members, Dag Holtan-Hartwig and Halvor Folstad in 2010, they became partners, functioning together as songwriters, musicians and producers. Working with the likes of Madden and Astrid S to name a few, their collaborations have collected over 120 million Spotify streams between them. Five years later, armed with an impressive back-catalogue, Skinny Days was born. Over the course of two years they have amassed over 11 million streams of their own material, and now with the release of The One That Got Away they hope to make that number grow.
