Go back a few years and you could spot 24 year old Lucas Nord on a hockey field thinking about going into marketing. Fast-forward to 2016 and after a move from Stockholm to London he is peaking on the Billboard Dance Chart.
Lucas first saw success as a producer. Run on Love, his single with Swedish pop chart-topper Tove Lo, brought his name into the spotlight in the US. Ever since its debut, it slowly but surely gained more and more popularity until it reached no.1 on the Billboard Dance Chart. If anything, this was merely a build-up for the artist – who has only just released his first album entitled Company.
As curiosity rises, it is easy to assume that many big things are being expected from Lucas in the near future. His music career might have started off with a heavy house and strong electronic influence, but has since slowly turned into a light, airy pop. Despite his initial approach to music, Lucas was no newbie to the pop umbrella. Craig David and Usher have been an influence on his taste and production process from an early stage. Talking of his progression from one genre to the other he said, “In the beginning I actually was a bit skeptical about moving into pop. But this is actually the first time I have done something that is me.”
It is no surprise that Lucas Nord is on our ‘Ones To Watch’ hit list for 2016. After all, he was schooled with the likes of Icona Pop, Erik Hassle and current pop darling Zara Larsson. His album Company is out now on Cosmo Music and available to download on iTunes. He has also recently released the remix of his song Don’t Need Your Love created by Norde, which can be now streamed on Spotify.
