This year marks the ninth of Record Store Day – a day devised in America and brought over to the UK – to champion and promote the over two hundred independent record stores throughout the fair isles.
Hailed as one of the largest annual events in music, exclusive vinyl releases, DJ sets, live performances and unique collaborations are in the works to make the 2017 celebration one for the books. The day is observed in cities and towns all around the globe, and we'll be celebrating in London with Hoxton Radio.
Our favourite radio station, Hoxton Radio are taking over one of our (and the fashion world's) favourite art gallery-cum member's bar: Lights Of Soho. The award-winning, independent, digital radio station will be sending some of their top DJs (and famous faces) to sonically curate the day and usher LOS visitors into a state of musical discovery: emerging duo, Laura Pradelska and Lara Fraser will be playing house and electro, Sasha Brown will spin electro-pop remixes and Janina Smith will keep it classic with sounds of the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Hoxton Radio’s founder, David ‘The Preshaah’ Harris, who we were lucky enough to have as our DJ for our first print issue launch in Mayfair, and every issue launch thereafter, says: “The revival of vinyl is really romantic – the way people are falling back in love with music again in a wholesome, cherishable way. To be part of Record Store Day in Soho, where some of the best record shops on the planet are located, is a special privilege.”
Those in London on Record Store Day are invited to explore Soho’s renowned record shops while having a browse at some of the coolest art in the capital, at Lights of Soho. Hoxton Radio listeners that pass by Lights of Soho for Record Store Day will get a complimentary Estrella Galicia beer on arrival, because nothing goes together better than been and music.
Hoxton Radio Record Store Day Takeover at Lights of Soho will take place on Saturday 22nd April from 12.00pm – 6.00pm.
