It’s almost the 4th of July and the Mondrian London has you covered.
With American roots, the Mondrian London on London’s South Bank is instituting a series of events that nod to the good ol’ U.S. of A.
2017 marks America’s 241st birthday; more than enough reason for Mondrian London to get all stars and stripes on us. Throughout the property, there will be a selection of festivities. First up is the hotel’s award-winning Dandelyan bar, which is getting a tropical makeover courtesy of Bobby Eldridge and Damon Roseberry from the Broken Shaker (ranked high up on The World’s 50 Best Bars) in Miami Beach. Bobby and Damon will join the team at Mondrian London where a one-off menu will be created exclusively for Dandelyan based around the Broken Shaker’s classics with a twist.
Sea Containers at Mondrian London (the hotel’s main restaurant) will have a special Independence Day menu that is chock-full of stateside comfort foods like the All American Burger and Baby Back Ribs, and for a full-on firework-worthy celebration, they'll have a range of booze-infused milkshakes. Let’s all hope for sunshine, whereby the menu will also be made available on the Summer Terrace – a recently opened space that nudges right up to the River Thames.
Haven’t been to Mondrian London’s Rumpus Room? Allow the 4th of July to be your excuse. The twelfth-floor lounge, which pays tribute to the Hamptons – one of America’s oldest and moneyed holiday spots – will be spouting out American tunes while you sip on Bulleit Boilermakers (Kentucky bourbon and craft beer). Standard American Summer fare will be served including sliders and mini hot dogs. Look up, the lounge's central light fixture look surprisingly like sparklers – the hand-held mini-fireworks-on-a-stick.
Declare your own independence by planning ahead and booking the Independence Stay. For £527 two people can party likes it's 1776 and crash in situ. The package includes £100 credit toward Sea Containers’ 4th of July menu (we've been told the stack of American pancakes for breakfast is the natural choice) and access to the Rumpus Room with a 4th of July cocktail each.
