Hailey Bieber recently waxed lyrical about what she believes CBD is doing for her sleep routine. The promotion of better sleep comes up time and again but what is the latest science saying to back up the hype?
In an interview with W magazine, Bieber spoke about how important sleep is for her mental and physical health and the kinds of hacks she used towards that end.
“Meditating, melatonin, or CBD oil that’s for sleep. I think that helps a lot. I’ve done gummies. I’ve never been into THC, or enjoyed how I felt being high. I’ve never liked it at all, but I like CBD because I enjoy feeling the relaxation. I use it in lotions and it helps a lot. My parents are super big on it too.”
“I love to sleep. Love. Sleep is one of the things that is so important for mental health, because when you don’t have REM sleep, your brain doesn’t get rest. You could be asleep and if you don’t go through REM sleep, it’s like you never slept at all. So sleep is such a huge part of your body.”
“I’ll always try to find the route where you can work on your mental state naturally because I think that’s always possible. Homeopathically is the way I approach anything first.”

Potential Hailey Bieber CBD Brand?
So maybe Justin’s beau’s belief in CBD carries some weight and who knows where that might lead?
Hailey recently took out a patent on “Hailey Bieber” and “HRB3” for intentions of a clothing line, according to documents obtained by The Blast online.
Maybe it’s not far-fetched to suggest Hailey’s passion for CBD might see her run her very own CBD-oriented products in future, and who knows – you may be even to purchase them right here on CBD Village.
There’s no doubt that the use of CBD is helping many in the CBD-consuming population but, up until recent years, the science around this hasn’t exactly been plentiful. However two high profile studies have emerged in the last year shedding more light on the subject.
Sleep Deprivation Epidemic
Sleep deprivation used to be the preserve of parents of small children, confirmed insomniacs and beleaguered shift workers. However the proliferation of the smartphone, and other media advances have seen increasing numbers of people around the world report lack of sleep or poor sleep.
Almost 80 percent of Americans say they have trouble sleeping at least once a week, according to another recent nationally representative CR survey of 1,267 US adults.
That figure in a larger survey hosted on the NHS website shows 62 per cent of the sampled UK population to be poor sleepers.
This has led to an avalanche of treatments, particularly prescription and over-the-counter drugs, however many more are opting for more natural treatments, with CBD included on that list.
What does the Science around CBD and Sleep say?
In July, a brand-new study investigated the effects of CBD and other cannabis compounds on insomnia saw researchers gather data from more than 400 volunteers using a digital app, which allowed the scientists to analyze the effects of CBD and other cannabinoids in people’s natural sleep environments.
They found CBD significantly reduced insomnia symptoms, and did so more effectively than another popular cannabinoid, THC.
Meanwhile two months previous to that, scientists in Brazil investigated whether CBD has disruptive effects on our sleep-wake cycles. They found use of CBD did not lead to changes in the sleep architecture of a group of healthy volunteers. The sleepers in the study moved normally through their distinct stages of sleep—including deep, slow-wave sleep and REM sleep, good news for the regularity of sleep cycles in people who use CBD.
Celebrities like Hailey Bieber are in no doubt as to the positive impact CBD has on their lives, and the science to date seems to reinforce the positive agency the substance has on sleep.
