Hoxton Radio, London’s favourite indie station and the one that DJed our first print issue launch party (Oliver Cheshire was our cover star and guest of honour), and every issue launch thereafter (five to date), is turning four today. We very happy to help celebrate and consider it a privilege to work with the capital’s coolest independent radio station.
Hoxton Radio was founded by David Harris on 27 July 2012. Presenting under the DJ name, ‘The Preshaah’, David is a former Sky News Radio, Heart Radio and Global Radio presenter. Not only is David up before dawn each day managing the station, his experience in the broadcasting industry has him working with and developing some of the biggest names in presenting: Lilah Parsons (who was picked up from Hoxton Radio and is now one of the main presenters on Capital FM Breakfast with George Shelley and Dave Berry), Becca Dudley, Liam Young, Ashley James, Stefanie Jones, Arielle Free, AJ Ododu and Charlotte de Carle.
If you’ve come to any of our parties over London Collections Men or to The Grooming Room at Century Club that we’re the media partner for, then you’ve likely listened to and were possibly even interviewed by Hoxton Radio and here are some of the station’s other highlights:
Launching the world’s first fashion radio show. Launched in 2014, Hoxton Fashion has its finger on the local, national and international pulse of all things fashion.
Along with Candid Magazine, Hoxton Radio partners with Old Spitalfields Market, Hoxton Street Market, Hoxton Hall and Shoreditch Town Hall.
Festivals are clamoring to align with the station that is renowned for being ahead of the curve: Field Day, Lovebox, Citadel and British Summer Time.
Like us, Hoxton Radio is big on art and supports local and national spaces including Whitechapel Gallery, KK Outlet, Hoxton Gallery, Tate, V&A and Somerset House.
David says, “I can’t believe it’s already been four years. Everyone we’ve worked with, I would consider friends and I am beyond words at the support Hoxton Radio receives not just from London, but from listeners around the world. Getting up every morning before the sun comes up is and will continue to be an absolute pleasure.”
