Chicago is an extraordinary city. Architecture is its main focal point, underpinned by a swathe of cultural elements that have been defined and refined for decades – art, music (namely jazz and blues), food (Chicago-style pizza may be an enemy to the arteries, but it’s unlike anything you’ve ever had before) and fashion keep this huge city by the lake on the map for anyone visiting the interior states of America.
When Bruce Weber teamed up with Versace to create his Chicago is My Beat short film, we knew exactly what he meant. The autumn/winter 2016 film (it’s never too early to wardrobe plan) sees a host of familiar faces strolling under the city’s ‘El’ (elevated city-wide train system), dancing in the streets, and Keith Milkie’s performance of If I Ruled the World gives more than a gentle nod to the city's musical heritage.
