Daniel Lismore, arguably the UK's most extravagant dresser will release his first book next month. Sharing the thirty-two ensembles that comprised his first U.S. museum exhibition, Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken will be released on the 14th February 2017.
The publication, which is based upon the exhibition, was co-curated by SCAD (the Savannah College of Art and Design) and presented at SCAD FASH: Museum of Fashion and Film last year. For the exhibition, Daniel wore life-size sculptural ensembles, each being reflections of his own multidimensional identity – a tapestry of his journey to his true self.
The book, published by Skira Rizzoli in association with the Savannah College of Art & Design will give those who could not visit the exhibition, the opportunity to indulge in Lismore's creative styling in the comfort of their own home.
Lismore has become a prominent figure in the British fashion world and has earned himself a legion of fans thanks to his elaborate ensembles.
He is brilliant at combining haute couture with charity-shop finds, yards of vintage fabrics and tartans, found objects, ribbons, feathers, chainmail, shells, ethnic jewellery, retro accessories, millinery and more in an expression of eccentric, creative energy.
A prominent fixture of the London fashion and nightlife circuits, he is both tastemaker and friend to artists ranging from Stephen Fry and Debbie Harry to Boy George and Vivienne Westwood. We also spotted Daniel at our launch party over London Fashion Week Men's.
Paula Wallace, president and founder of Savannah College of Art and Design, who wrote the foreward in the book, says: “Daniel’s work actualises what others only dream about: a court scene of his own making; each character, Daniel himself.
“Be Yourself; Everyone Else Is Already Taken — this book and the exhibition that launched it — portrays Daniel’s brilliant, cheeky self-portraits. One need not look further than the title to understand how fully Daniel expresses his own persona.”
Daniel Lismore: Be yourself, Everyone Else is Taken published by Rizzoli will be available to buy for £40 from the 14th February 2017.
