Coffee is such an integral aspect to everyday life, it has an entire week dedicated to it. From the 10th through to the 16th of April, UK Coffee Week and the millions of people that drink it daily, will be celebrating and helping to raise funds for coffee growing communities.
One of our favourite haunts, The Bloomsbury Club Bar (BCB) is commemorating Coffee Week in style by taking the brew up a notch. Importing the luxurious Irish Coffee cocktail from The Dead Rabbit in New York – the 2016 winner of the World's Best Bar and World’s Best Cocktail Menu from the Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards – BCB will be packing a punch to your after work drinks session while you help deliver clean water and sanitation to coffee growers around the world (twenty per cent of each coffee is donated to Project Waterfall).
To indulge in this rich twist on your daily necessity, visit BCB over UK Coffee Week. If you’re a fan of coffee and you like whiskey, this is a green light to treat yourself, and the Manhattan-based originators serve two hundred Irish Coffees a day, so it’s safe to say, they’re pretty good.
The Irish Coffee cocktail was created by The Dead Rabbit’s Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, who originally hail from Belfast. Muldoon says: “The Dead Rabbit Irish Coffee is made right. We researched the best recipes and production techniques to develop and perfect our serve, and it’s since become one of our most popular drinks. People come to the bar specifically to try our Irish Coffee, and we’re excited to share that experience with the guests at The Bloomsbury Club.”
What will you be sipping? A blend of whiskey, Irish coffee mix (coffee and Demerara sugar syrup combined in a sous vide) and whipped cream with a garnish of nutmeg. You may have had an Irish Coffee or two over St. Patrick’s Day last month, but this is an opportunity to drink the best from arguably the most decorated cocktail creators in America, via Ireland.
The Bloomsbury Club Bar is located within The Bloomsbury Hotel: 16-22 Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3NN.
