CBD brand Balance has donated its September 2019 profits from sales of its CBD Gummies to Leonardo DiCaprio's Earth Alliance Amazon Forest Fund.
The Canadian company chose to donate the profits from its best selling 10mg CBD Gummy Bears to help fund this great initiative which was set up by actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio together with philanthropists Lauren Powell Jobs and Brian Sheth.
DiCaprio has long been an activist and speaking to the press he says: “I've been to the Amazon. Knowing not only the importance that it is for stabilizing climate, but the beauty of biodiversity and the cultures that live there, it's incredibly tragic.”
Satellite images and online videos recently emerged showing the full scope of the catastrophe that has hit Brazil and which is now believed to have been started as a result of arson.
In response to this, the Earth Alliance Amazon Forest Fund was created with an initial pledge of $5 million to help tackle these fires that are currently destroying the lungs of our planet.
Looking to kickstart the campaign, the Titanic star said: “Earth Alliance wanted to make an immediate contribution to start the ball rolling and do something proactive in the hope that other people get involved.”
Their generosity spurred Balance, an environmentally friendly vegan company, into action. They were eager to help. A spokesperson for the company said:
“Protecting the earth is woven into our company ethos; all our products are organic and natural without any artificial ingredients. The emerging cannabis sector has been booming, and we are urging the entire industry to give back.”
The money raised from companies like Balance are being directly distributed to indigenous communities and other local partners fighting fires, protecting indigenous lands and providing relief to the communities impacted.
Balance gained further notoriety recently when their CBD muscle balm featured in the 2020 Golden Globe Awards Gift bag. I’m sure the celebrities would have been appreciative of CBD’s anti-anxiety effects after enduring Ricky Gervais’ roasting at this year’s awards ceremony!
