Calling Timothée Chalamet By His Name At BAFTA

21st February 2018

Timothée Chalamet, the modern dapper, is anything but boring.

Looking back on Sunday, one actor stood out from the crowd. Not only due to his accomplishments on screen, but also due to what he was wearing off screen. We are of course talking about Timothée Chalamet, the breakthrough actor of the year.

Despite an impressive resumé, which he began filling up doing commercials as a child, Chalamet has entered the spotlight via numerous projects lately; most notably Call Me By Your Name. Having starred in a number of short films, we have also seen him in the hit television series Homeland as well as the feature film Interstellar to name a few. In Call Me By Your Name he portrays a seventeen-year-old boy in Northern Italy who is exploring his sexuality.

When Timothée Chalamet turned up on the red carpet at the 71st BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), held on February 18th at the Royal Albert Hall in London, to honour the best national and foreign films of 2017, we realised that not only is he a talented actor, but the best-dressed gent of the night as well.
Gone was the innocence of a 17-year-old Elio (Chalamet's character in Call Me By Your Name) and the turtleneck combined with casual jeans some might remember from the red carpet during the Toronto Film Festival in 2014.
Having evolved as an actor, Chalamet's wardrobe has gotten an upgrade. Despite not winning any awards for his outstanding performance in Call Me By Your Name – a somewhat incomprehensible fact, he was a sight for sore eyes with his immaculate style. Dressed from top to toe in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, he shows us that formalwear for men need not be as stiff as sometimes considered.

This year we can see this native New Yorker in feature films such as Beautiful Boy and A Rainy Day In New York and we look forward to many more great achievements, both on and off screen.
