French Beekeeper Creating Cannahoney

30th August 2019

A French beekeeper is creating quite a buzz with his latest creation – cannabis honey. Nicholas Trainer has begun creating honey from the resin of cannabis plants and naturally this is making him quite popular in the cannabis community.

Nicholas has been an advocate of cannabis legalisation for years as it helps him with his hyperactive condition, which caused him to drop out of school at a young age. In the last few years, he’s been training his bees to collect their sugar from fruit instead of flowers.

It eventually dawned on Nicholas that he could combine both his cannabis advocacy and his beekeeping to create something unique. The cannabis resin honey is the result.

Benefits of Cannabis Honey

Honey is unique for a number of reasons, not least because it’s the only food made by insects that we eat. But it also has a surprising amount of benefits for the human body. Honey that is infused with CBD (cannabidiol) or cannabis is even more beneficial.

Like regular CBD, cannabis honey can help to deal with depression, anxiety, inflammation, anxiety, and much more besides. There is also a growing body of research which suggests that CBD may help with neurodegenerative diseases.

Can it harm the Bees?

Infusing honey with cannabis is actually completely harmless for worker bees as they aren’t affected by the cannabinoids in the same way humans are. This is because bees don’t have an endocannabinoid system that can process the cannabinoids.

While there is still quite a lot to be done in terms of research on the potential benefits of this kind of honey, its eventual success would make it one of the first ever all-natural cannabis honeys on the market.
