Brand new trailer for upcoming Alex Garland film ‘Annihilation’

27th September 2017

Paramount have just dropped the first teaser trailer of what looks like an impressive movie with an equally impressive cast; the British- American production Annihilation. The film is based on Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy and is adapted to the screen by writer turned director Alex Garland.

Garland’s previous debut effort was the exquisite Ex Machina but is also known as the voice of Generation X through his notable book The Beach and as well as screenplays for 28 Days Later, Sunshine and Never Let Me Go.
Set to be released in the UK in February, it hosts a stellar cast which includes: the Oscar winning actress Natalie Portman in the lead and co-stars the amazingly talented indie queen Jennifer Jason Leigh as well as Gina Rodrigues (Jane the Virgin) and Oscar Isaacs, Garland's protagonist in Ex Machina.

In similar vein to Ex Machina, the trailer hints at a stylistic muted dystopian tone where the crux of the story involves a biologist (Portman) who after the disappearance of her husband puts herself forward for an expedition into an environmental disaster zone to find him but soon enough realizes she does not quite find what she's expecting.
The film is set for release in the UK on the 23rd of February 2018.
